There’s a moment when a big family or group of friends finally arrives at Sherwood Loves Tasmania — bags dropped, kids exploring, someone putting the kettle on — and you can feel the whole group exhale. The valley is quiet, the house is warm and generous, and suddenly everyone realises: we’re all here, together, in one place. Hurrah!
Sherwood is designed for large group accommodation in Tasmania, sleeping 12–22 guests across spacious bedrooms, multiple living areas, and long communal tables that make shared meals feel intimate and effortless. It’s a home that holds people beautifully, whether you’re celebrating a 50th birthday, gathering for a family reunion, or planning a group getaway near Hobart.
This is where big weekends happen.

A Home that Brings Everyone Together
Groups of 12–22 often struggle to find a place that feels both spacious, yet connected; homely, yet special enough. Sherwood is all of these and more…
-
Bedrooms that work for couples, singles, and kids.
-
Cosy kitchen-dining that becomes the heart of the weekend.
-
Cook if you choose, or have a mobile chef cook for you.
-
Multiple indoor spaces for different ages and energy levels.
-
Boxes of games to keep the young and old entertained.
-
Curated spaces with art woven into the fabric of this place.
-
Outdoor decks and lawns for slow mornings and sunset drinks.
-
Breakaway nooks for alone time, as well.
-
A peaceful valley outlook and a stunning mountain view.
-
You could book a yoga teacher or qi gong master if you so choose.
Hug rocks in our rock garden, walk in our sparkling Labyrinth beneath a starry sky, or toast marshmallows around a fire-pot sipping mulled wine. It’s the kind of house where people naturally gather, drift apart, and gather again - a place where quality time connecting and inspiring moments are experiences people walk away with.

Family Reunion Accommodation Near Hobart
Reunions work best when everyone can stay under one roof. Sherwood gives families the space to reconnect without the logistics of multiple bookings or scattered hotel rooms with no place to ‘hang’ with each other.

-
45–55 minutes easy drive from Hobart CBD. Plenty of parking.

A large kitchen that a few cooks can co-create meals together for the group.

Different social spaces to hang out in, and nooks in case you need ‘space’.
-
Rooms with different configurations to choose from.
The layout of the estate is intentionally flexible. Adults can enjoy long conversations in one living area while kids play or watch movies in another. Everyone has space, but no one is far away.
A private, nature‑rich setting that feels like a true getaway. Being just outside the city helps everyone unwind faster - the moment you arrive, your getaway has arrived, too.

The bathroom near the Blue Room is shared with the Pink and Yellow Rooms. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets in the pavilion building for your use, too.
✦This bedroom has views to Mount Gatehouse and also has a bay window seat for you to have a cuppa. The artist we are dedicating this room to is Helen Dardik from Ottawa, Canada. Helen is a prolific artist, illustrator and designer. We love Helen’s vibrant and folksy work, where humans, animals, and flowers/plants seem to intermingle; we could call this room ‘Cosy’.
The YELLOW Room
✦This bedroom has a king bed, and the booking is for 2 persons max. The bathroom near the Yellow Room is shared with the Pink and Blue Rooms. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets in The Pavilion building for your use, too.
✦This bedroom has views into the garden – here you get an aerial view of every stepping-stone we have laid. This room is so bright and sunshiny like the artist we are dedicating this room to, Sha’an d’Anthes, aka Furry Little Peach from Sydney, Australia. Sha’an is a prolific artist, illustrator, designer and inspiring influencer. The paintings on the walls were from Peachtober, where she would set a list of prompts, and thousands of artists would paint to it. If there is a word for this room, it’s ‘Peachy’.

The ORI Room
✦This room is called ‘ORI’ because this room is the ORIGINAL room, the cottage, built in 1840s. ‘ORI’ in Latin means ‘rise’, ‘begin’, ‘appear’; or in Hebrew, it means ‘my light’ and therefore, this is the original light that rose, the beginning of Sherwood Loves Tasmania almost 200 years ago.
✦This bedroom has a comfortable double bed, and the booking is for 2 persons max. This room has its own little lounge to relax in, complete with a 65-inch smart TV with complimentary Netflix included. The bathroom nearest The ORI Room is the downstairs bathroom in the main homestead – it is shared with Gidget the caravan. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets in The Pavilion building for your use, too.
✦The Ori Room has views into the valley facing south… on occasion, we do see the aurora from the south. Two artists contribute to ORI that adds to the meaning of the space… Ruth Lange, and prolific Sydney artist Jane Bennett.
The Mosh Room
✦At Sherwood Loves Tasmania, we love curating meaningful and beautiful rooms, and the bunk room is no different. This super spacious room is called ‘Mosh’ for many reasons… firstly, the room is a mini sanctuary away where a group of friends or family can mosh up together… there are 6 beds, and a little lounge area. It’s like a fun mosh pit!
✦Secondly, most of the art in Mosh is by Desmond Sim, a Singapore artist and playwright of Peranakan heritage. The Peranakan culture is a fusion of Chinese and Malay; this is reflected the colourful Peranakan art, ceramics and books. One of the more beautiful rooms in Sherwood Loves Tasmania with its timber ceiling and floor, and sandstone walls with views the magnificent view to Mount Gatehouse.
✦These bunk beds are all king singles – ie. the width is between single and double bed size. Booking of Mosh is for a maximum of 6 persons. The bathroom nearest Mosh Room is 3-4 paces from the room – this is shared with guests from Gidget the caravan and Ori Room. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets in The Pavilion building for your use, too.

The Yin Room
✦There are two guest rooms in The Stable – one’s Yin Room, the other is Yang Room. Both these have their own entry. This master size bedroom has a king size bed, and a click clack single sofa bed. There are two booking options – booking the Yin Room for two is for 1-2 persons and booking the Yin Room for three is for 3 persons max. There is a nearby toilet/vanity sink for these rooms to use. But to shower, guests from Yin and Yang Rooms will need to go to the downstairs bathroom in The Pavilion building next to the lounge.
✦The Yin and Yang bedrooms have been created more earthy and grounded. The YIN Room faces a rustic sheep shearing shed – you feel like you're in another place, another time. In these rooms, you will find historical pieces from the original stable re-installed back into the rooms. The beautiful 11.5m hand hewn beam, sitting on their original support beam, imbedded in the original plinth brings character to these rooms. The Yin Room is softer, more feminine energy to its Yang counterpart, even though the portrait is of a female warrior.

The Yang Room has a more active, masculine energy than its Yin counterpart; a warrior with strength adorns the wall.
